Some people persecute them as in the time of the witches, others cook them and others save them, replacing the activity of the Recovery Center Wildlife alerted by OIPA volunteers of Pordenone, which justified the failure rescue saying, “coypu must die”.

On Boxing Day this baby coypu, rescued by the intervention of the OIPA’s Blue Angels, was found poured on the asphalt, next to the invested mother. Immediately conducted at a private sanctuary, the firsts aid and the analgesic has been submitted. The puppy, indeed, just four moths old, was in shock, showing a soft concussion and a fracture on the front leg.

The first days, the baby coypu, named Stefania, which has been feeded with a sweet jelly to raise her blood sugar, has already recovered and eats up hungrily chicory, carrots and apples. As soon as it will resume the use of the paw, will be sterilized and entrust in adoption to someone who can assure a life suited to its needs.

We would like to remind that after the final approval of the 7 article of the “Environmental Link” of the stability law, the administration of the coypu population has returned again under the 19 article of the Italian national law on wildlife protection, law 157/92, which imposes control plans that uses first of all bloodless method.

Therefore, all the regional and communal plans after the modification of July 2014 of the law 157/92 with the aim of limiting the protection of coypu, allowing their extermination with the use of any instrument, as doublets and trap cages, must be considered illegal.
