Cambodia is home to millions of homeless cats and dogs. These animals lack safe and regular access to food and shelter and often they do not have anybody to love them and medically care for them. Many are parasite-infested and often injured from dangerous street life.

Animal Rescue Cambodia is focused on:

(1) desexing & vaccinating stray animals

(2) increasing community knowledge & practical skills in helping cats & dogs

(3) raising the quality of vet care

(4) advocating for improved animal welfare legislation

In the first quarter of 2022, Covid continued strongly in Cambodia. Despite mild disease progression, the Omikron variant is halting public and community life due to sickness and consequent isolation.

Consequently, ARC focused their efforts on desexing program of dogs in collaboration with the Soi Dog Foundation and desexing program of cats in collaboration with the Marchig Foundation for the animals of disadvantaged vulnerable groups as well as on a rabies eradication program with Mission Rabies.

HQHVSN (high-quality high-volume spay/neuter) is an essential part of ARC’s work to create sustainable animal welfare in Cambodia. Every week, dozens of animals come to ARC Center for desexing, vaccination, medical checkups/treatments. By desexing at least 150 cats/dogs per month ARC humanely reduces the animal overpopulation and end their suffering. They also treat up to dozens of injured and sick cats & dogs of disadvantaged groups.

As part of the gradual scaling up of our operations, the ARC vet team expanded with new vet nurses.

Special Cat & Dog Stories

Zorro

Baby Zorro found his way to ARC Center a few weeks ago. He was rescued in very bad shape and with a spinal injury that paralyzes his back legs. But ARC has been able to give Zorro the treatment and care he needed.

Browny

Browny was abandoned on the street after his owner moved away. He was severely malnourished and has a very painful abscess. Luckily, Browny found his way to our ARC Center, where our vet team was able to treat him thanks to the support of our wonderful donor family. ARC vet team also desexed, vaccinated and microchipped him and provided Browny with a safe space to rest and recover while our nursing team was giving him lots of loving care to get healthy again. Now, Browny won the lottery by being adopted into the best forever home he could possibly dream of.
