An investigation of FIAPO (Federation of Indian Animal Protection) reveals shocking conditions of fishes used in the aquaculture industry in India.

FIAPO went undercover in 10 of the highest fish producing states to reveal and document the truth of India’s growing fish industry.

What they found was shocking!!!

▪  Fishes are not stunned or made unconscious before they are killed. They are cut up alive which forces them to endure the pain and terror of their gills beings shaved and their hearts being pierced.

Fishes are forced to live in water where oxygen levels are consistently low

Heavy metals like lead and cadmium are present at a hazardous level

Enclosures are cramped and filthy with no waste management. The contaminated water from these fish farms is released into local water bodies and estuaries that spread the parasites further, causing harm to the wild fish population as well as humans

These dirty, tight enclosures restrict them from navigating freely causing them to knock against each other and leading to debilitating injuries. Fishes go through frequent stress-related injuries as well as infections, which make the farmer resort to heavy usage of anitbiotics and insecticides
