The General Directorate of the Merchant Marine has ordered, on request of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the vessel Elbeik with Togolese flag and loaded with 1,700 bovines, to dock to Cartagena’s port in order to determine the health and welfare status of the animals aboard.

In this resolution of the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine states in this resolution that the captain of the vessel is “warned” that failing to comply with the said order “could constitute a serious administrative offense”.

The text details that the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society (Sasemar) will monitor the ship from its current position (south coast of Menorca) until its arrival at the port of Cartagena.

OIPA International wrote immediately to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Mr. Luis Planas Puchades, asking to intervene and not to repeat a second Karim-Allah but this time save the life of the survived bovines who have endured extreme suffering for so many weeks.
