The impact of climate change and summer temperature reaching around 50 degree Celsius in some region of India, Rajasthan included, are causing widespread dehydration and increasing fatality amongst birds due to the lack of drinking water available in this period.

Wing Of Research In Local Development (WORLD), OIPA’s Member League association that has been working for animals welfare and wellbeing for more than two decades has created a joint OIPA-WORLD Water Bowl Campaign for saving birds’ lives and raising awareness in the community about the importance of helping birds survive.

The team started distributing earthen water bowls free of cost to the community. The first bowl was placed by Mr. K.C. Bishnoi – Chairman, State Animal Welfare Board, Government of Rajasthan and Advocate Manish Saxena – OIPA International Representative & Director WORLD.

This programme has sensitized and generated people’s participation for the cause. The team has already placed successfully more than 500 earthen water bowls throughout the city to quench the thirst of Birds. This has resulted in saving innumerable lives from dehydration in the scorching heat of summer in Rajasthan.

Other active participants have been: Dr. Praveen Sain – Joint Director; Dr. Padam Chand Khankhedia – Deputy Director; Dr. Rajesh Sahani – Senior Veterinary Officer; Dr. Vinay Choudhary – Senior Veterinary Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Rajasthan.

More earthen water bowls will be placed in the near future
