On the occasion of International Women’s Day, OIPA International’s delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by WagWag, is organizing a free online webinar titled “Women Volunteers in the Digital Space.”
The event aims to create a moment of dialogue and exchange for women engaged in animal protection and volunteering, offering a safe space to discuss the challenges they often face when advocating for animals online.
In an era where the digital space has become an extension of public action, women who rescue animals, care for them and defend their rights increasingly encounter insults, belittlement and gender-based stereotypes. Their activism does not stop in the field – and unfortunately, neither do the attacks.
This webinar will provide an opportunity for women volunteers to share experiences, reflect together on online harassment and strengthen mutual support within the animal protection community.
What the webinar will cover
The workshop will address several key topics, including:
- recognizing patterns of online harassment and digital violence
- understanding the gender dimension of hate speech
- distinguishing constructive criticism from personal attacks
- sharing experiences and strategies for responding
- strengthening solidarity and support among women volunteers
A special contribution will be provided by psychotherapist Helena Bakić, who will discuss the psychological impact of digital violence and share practical guidance on maintaining emotional balance while engaging in online advocacy.
Who can participate
The webinar is primarily intended for women active in animal protection and volunteering, particularly those who engage in advocacy on social media or face public pressure and online attacks. However, all women interested in exploring this topic and contributing to a safer digital space are welcome to join.
Saturday, 7 March – 15:00 CET
Duration: 1 hour
Language: Serbian
Meeting ID: 848 7840 6089 Access code: 2TAXG3
For those who may not be able to attend, the recording of the webinar will be published on the OIPA International website, with English subtitles available.
The digital space should be a place of solidarity, not intimidation.
This webinar offers an opportunity for women volunteers to come together, exchange perspectives and strengthen their collective voice for animals.
