A volunteer in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, messaged us asking for help for feeding the 60 animals she looks after all alone. Without financial resources, she cannot rent a field or establish her own non-profit therefore she uses her house as a shelter for street cats and dogs who have been abandoned. Abandonment is a plague in Banja Luka and in the rest of Bosnia. Animals are dumped everywhere whether they are sick, pregnant, old, or even if they are just few days old. At the moment, Diana is fostering 11 dogs and almost 50 cats, including kittens and puppies… but don’t worry! Adults are all vaccinated and sterilized and the young ones are just waiting to be old enough to be spayed and neutered. The adoption rate is very low in Bosnia and Diana ended up to keep all these pets at her place to secure them care and a safe environment.
Thanks to the project ‘Save a Stray’ we purchased 81 kg of dry food for cats and dogs (49 kg cat food – 32 kg dog food) that has been delivered to these needy animals.
