Havin, a brave animal activist who lives in the North East of Syria, a few months ago desperately asked for help to our friends of UAE International for saving her three dogs from a life of abuse and mistreatment. Shero, a disabled male dog rescued after being hit by a car, Zere a sweet female abandoned by her owner and little Kuzu, puppy abused by some uncompassionate kids. In a Country afflicted by a heinous civil war, not only humans suffer tremendously, but also animals. Strays are often exposed to violence and abuse and they have a few chances to find loving people willing to feed and take care of them with all due respect. There are no shelters, associations, qualified veterinarians, proper treatment and medicines.
After several tries, our friends of UAE found an international organization that was able to handle the logistics and put a rescue plan in place to save the lives of the three dogs. After a difficult and dangerous journey, which lasted for 5 days, and the devastating earthquake that hit Syria, Shero and Zere were the first two dogs to crossing the borders, finding salvation.
Immediately taken to a veterinary clinic for a proper health check, they were treated against parasites and scabies, as well as eye and ear infection. Shero had his front leg amputated and they were both fully vaccinated.
Kuzu couldn’t be left behind and he soon joined his two friends. After a period of quarantine, the three dogs are now fostered in a temporary home. During the next months, Shero, Zere and Kuzu will be prepared for their relocation in Europe. They will be neutered and spayed, vaccinated and tested against rabies, chipped and all their documents and paperwork will be filled in.
The cost of the entire rescue operation is very high. To help give Shero, Zere and Kuzu a better life, we want to support UAE in collecting funds to cover all costs: transportation from Syria, medical treatments, food, temporary homes, medicines, vaccines, sterilizations, microchipping, travel crates, paperwork, documents, and flights to Europe.
